The boys are feeling hyped after a great year for the game, come listen into some of our top hightlights for the year.

Yo, what is up guys welcome back to tagteam, Fook Mont Trading Card Games? For me, your podcasting too, my name isRaley Hulbert joined, as always by my good good friend, MR J W cre wall, Gwhow's it going today. It's gone pretty well Riley. How are You I am thriving? That is my word of the day. I've said thriving to everyone. Who's asked Dude, that's good! Okay, what makes you thriving? Nothing really and ifanything, I'm not thriving, but you know it's kind of like one of those. You know speekee it till you make ityeah, exactly say reality kind of things: okay, okay, Gosh, okay! Well, that's good! I'm glad we're back once again once again happy to be here yeah. How are things going in the the creal world? It's good! Let's see the biggestthing! Yesterday I couldn't sleep. I was playing people Sigo Til I on threein the morning, don't tell my wife and then I cleaned my room, so I now have yeah. No, it was reallygood. I got rid of like four boxes last night, so I now have my table all setup and I could potentially, if I ever find afriend here in Columbus, I can potentially do like table top stuff. Ijust need a just need a like to set the camera up, so I orderedlike a y. Ah I have my little Logitech Web Cam. So I'm going to see how thatlooks with a little extender for the cord out back and but yeah there might be some table topstuff coming. I don't know all right at the very least, it's a place for likeAnn and I to play board games or something and that's not to beunderestimated. That's good! That is not it's Nice! I just I'm so happy thatI finally got it set up. It's like been yeah a month in the making. So thereyou go. That's awesome ye any other, exciting developments who job is goingwell, I'm ordering a lot of cards for IRL tournaments. I mean it's like a lotof little things right, yeah on t, CG player and like if full grip doesn'thave something you know then I'll just like go on t CG player and it's like inorder her a little bit of this, like one gus, Lord One, you know Max Elixare right, like all these little cards that just are kind of adding out. Sothat's pretty cool and that's been that's. When fun, it's been good totouch cards again. I love to touch them all. Right me to bro like actually just straight up touching the cards is likeinsane. I am getting the ITCH. I feel that man, Ifeel that now, whenever I go to like target- and I find one of those likejumbo starter packs- you know with the the three starter Fuckin for mygeneration, I always buy those. I can open up some packs Nice, nice, that's cool, yeah, sweet, okay, anything new with you,Riley new with me, nothing too wild, nothing too wild. Iwent to a a minor league soccer game on Saturday, which is pretty fun. The remind me their name again or causeyou madison for Er or word right, because you've been and there they havethe pink and teal colors yeah. They Look Great, I'm remembering so went to one of their games again. That was really fun and I just been kind of plowing through alot of work this week, ton stuff going on, but the the clearing is a horizon very cool day and speaking of things on the horizon, the end is near w. The end of this calendar year ofpokemon is is coming up quickly on us, yeah, no doubt and also another finishof another great season of tag team. Absolutely absolutely so. We got onemore episode after this one before the season is complete, but we do want to spend thisepisode kind of taking a look back at the the history of the format this yearand taking a look at some of the highlights from the show and from you know, just the general going on ofthe community in the past year. So we're really excited to kind ofshare some of our ideas with you and if you have any experiences that you'vepersonally have that have been really valuable, feel free to either sharethem in the chat or you know, shoot us over a message on twitter. Yeahabsolutely should ever do you want to start us off with our first highlightmoment of the year well moment or just general time frame? I I thought thisyear was really fun for a lot of the...

...pokemon content, creator, collaborations yeah and one of those collaborations that happened earlier in the like, rot rotational year that thepokemon competitive year was the Omnok online play league. I thought that wasa fantastic thing for the community and just a really fun way for some of thecontent creators, both big and small, to collaborate on something, for you know the greater good I guess forjust you know, people in general. I thought it was a really great time andunfortunately I don't think that it really took off like it. Didn't itdidn't blow up in a way that that I think some of the organizerswere expecting, but I don't think that that means that it's not a success. Youknow, I think it was a good way for us all to gather together have some fun with each other andsupport each other in a way which yeah, which is really good. I feel like againlike we say it a lot, or at least I say it a lot. You know that the community is really scalps each other yeah. No, no yeah, no,no like the opposite right, like people are always in the CG community, amongstthe content creators for the most part. Ninety five percent of the contentcreators are going to help one another out, and I think this was a perfectrepresentation of that. Absolutely absolute, I forget. Did you win a lotof games in the play league? I I went about average average. I went aboutaverage. I had some where it was like some absurdly bad luck and yes yeah. It was all the luck. Imean it wasn't like my deck choice or anything like that, but no we went wewent about average. I think you know is fine. It's kind of a toss up with thatkind of stuff right because, like you, can just get hard hard like Meta Gamesout of the you know, it is the best of three kind of conquest style, so it'ssuper easy to just kind of get get bodied there by one or two badgames, but there's a lot of fun. I hope we do it again in the future at somepoint or something similar, maybe not on the week to week level as that, but, like maybe some kind of you know, invitational or something youknow, I think people like to see. Generally, you know the feedback wasthat okay, I like to see these contact graters match up against one another o.Did it get the general views on Youtube? Maybe not, but yeah that kind ofcompetition among content creators is pretty cool. Absolutely it's always funto see. You know the crossover episode right or your favorite creators arelike working with each other yeah. For sure I mean that's a huge thing and Idon't know I guess, like an I'm sure in anycompetitive arena right you just love to see like your favorite athletes. They go up against each other or yeah your favorite teams, right like like ine sports or something like go after each other, so it was pretty fun. Idon't know that we, you know, develop any rivalries, but I think you knownext time. If there is a next time, I'm going to be talking way more trashthere, you go yeah, that's the secret. You got a yeah villain, that's right! Why not me? I think I not right in Thanh what the heck, I think, I'm thenicest of all the content creators is that true, I mean that's for you todecide, but I'm throwing that out to the universe. I guess the universalwill be the judge of that. Another highlight- and this is like anothergeneral one. I think huge thing for me that I've emphasized throughout theyear is. I have been really surprised, pleasantly, surprised andhappy to see the kind of grass roots scene that we built up and poke em on.I feel like so much of pokemon was so rigorously defined by play Pokemonduring like the past few years and really even historically- and you knowthe communities really come together and made their own seen in the lastyear. Basically, it's been really impressive. You know, we've had thehagters you've had the chill T, CG events you've had all these different, like recurring series getting tons and tons of entrance every single week andpeople are still like enjoying the game and playing it, and that's awesome. It's really cool to see.You know. We've talked as well about how it's had impacts on the Meta gameand the fact that, like the metagame is developing so much more quickly nowbecause of the cadence of events in the publishing of all these differentresults, and it's really cool, I'm so...

...curious to see when we eventuallyreturned in person play like what the the down shoe effect of that is on this, like limitless environment that we've cultivated, are you saying like? Do youwant to see if it continues, or I see like like if the players that haveplayed a lot and have you know made, I don't know names for themselves likecontinue on in the yeah. I think both I would love to see some of those playersand, like you know, take it to the next level and prove themselves at like aregional championship, and I would also love to see thisonline sphere like continue. You know, I think it's. I think it's good for thegame to have like this kind of grass roots local ish scene, where there'slike tons of you, know tons of smaller events that you can always participatein. You know just depending on your availability and time yeah for sureyeah. It has been really cool. I I mean with the absence of a ranked ladder, it's been almost unnecessity. I know, but it's been almost a necessity for these kinds of turnouts to exist rightbecause you just you need a way to showcase competition yeah and you needa way, for you know, players to compete and again without a rank ladder likeit's been pretty hard to showcase that so these tournaments have been. You know one of those ways right thatsomebody can say yeah, I'm separating myself from the pack as being somebody. That is good that you know when you saw like a zoolwin a bunch of tournaments. Your seeing all these, you know players that Idon't know that I had ever heard of before online tournaments like consistently perform very well. So it'sreally it's really neat, absolutely absolutely, but speaking of onlinetournaments. I think another thing that we should bring up. I mean, of course,is just the entire creation of the players, Cups Yeah. What a fantasticidea by pokemon! I think we were all kind of waiting early in the pandemiclike hey. When is this going to be a thing? When is this going to be a thing? When is pokemon going to you know kind of step up and and provide thecommunity with events and actual you know, sanctionedonline tournaments and to their credit, I think they listened right. Theylistened to the community, at least I'd like to think that they did and andbrought us something that was really special unique and I worked pretty well yeah. I think the Players Cup was. It was awesome. The level of excitementaround the Players Cup happening. Obviously, they kind of fumbled theball a bit with like the first iteration of the key system it feltlike, but they really refined that going forward. It felt a lot smoothergoing forward and it was really just a joy to see the fact that pokmon stillinvested into the online scene right like we weren't just waiting for an answer. I guess for ayear they actually did invest their time into it and and spoke to theplayers in their desire to play right, absolutely yeah. I think it. You know we're always going to haveconcerns. I guess like one of my concerns would be like well, could theyhave just done more of these tournaments, but it was at least something to lookforward to every quarter, and I really hope something like this exists. If you know soon, we go back to irl competition and that's a big I meanthat's always a big if, like we're speaking like day by day as if it'sgoing to happen but yeah, it's something, certainly that Ihope Pokmon will continue in some capacity, whether it's this large scaleor even just you know, eight man pods to earn. You know some CP or somethinglike that. I hope they continue this kind of level of competition in theonline spere yeah and not to mention you know we can we we do or miss tomention the players cots without talking about our own. Like experiencesin the you know, positive and negative highlights, I guess, Jan I had some flub in the flyers cups.I also had some really good qualifying runs, yeah, absolutely yeah. There was thatone. Let's see I was, I think, played for me and then three for you, oh threefor me, yeah and I just smoked through through Players Cup. Three. I don'tknow what did you finish in Players Cup to not great? Okay? Okay, I okay, all right, Gotchayeah, because I like I was like top sixteen. I think terms of points. Oh aocasion operation. I was, I was fifth, that's right! Yeah I was like I thoughtyou had so ridiculous. To Finish, I was...

I was tied for. Fourth Fifth was is allGotcha yeah, because that was kind of cool. I don't know what the tie rickerwas so azul got forth and you got fifthyeah. You hate to see it. You hate, you hate it! It's you despise it sorry about that! One! It's okay, but Iso I did do better than you, but then actual players Cup itself. Youfar exceeded me true yeah, there you go ye and of course he cut Chewin set ground,I'm carrying US hard through players. Cups, I mean that's. You know what I'llB be honest on his side: Thack Man. I played that back when it was like. Youknow, baby pegram back on nose. Pecado, you know back with Ye have Bolton likethere have been a lot of atoacan of pegram that I played and I'll miss it.I'M gonna say yeah, it's kind of funny to see the life cycle and likereminisce about these cards as the lifecycle, because that was whatintroduced in two thousand and nineteen right like yeah a long time ago andthen just to yeah continually play it and see it kind of evolves, yes, fun. Even a missin. I was like ahuge Pekan, a stand before Pekan came out and then it kind of came tomainstream. So I got over it and then but then I think post rotation thisyear. I could a had a revitalized interest in Pikermi. Think taking awaylike the Super Turbo elements to it, made it more interesting to me. Oh forsure, yeah you weren't, just like a glass can. I felt like that was a lotof the old lists were just like yeah, I'm going to try to blow up and getthat one big turn with, like you know two or three electro power like go hard, and if I don't get it else, an it. I said it at the start of the year I'llsay it again. I really did not like electric power, I didn't like ThunderMountain. I didn't like what they added so having it be more restricted to justlike Coco and Bolton. Was it felt like a more strategic deck to me at thatpoint sure yeah, absolutely, but pokemon also invested in online, seenin in a completely different way that we should call it as well and that'sthe team challenges now. Obviously, the team challenge still looks like itneeds some refinement in order to really nail down exactly what they'regoing for there, but so so cool that they did it. Ithink it was really interesting, like you, have all these local stories thathave an opportunity to know kind of represent this bare scene in a way at a high level of competition, soSuper Fun. I love how they incentivized like for the stores and the players toparticipate. You know you have these play maths that you got and iterativelythat you got new ones. If you did better and better in your replacements,so yeah, I love the idea. I would love to seethem continue to iterate on that and like improve upon it. I think you knowstill needs to Polish, but I really really am a fan of it yeah. I think itwas pretty cool. I think there was some discrepancy, my biggest gripe, mybiggest gripe outside of like the scheduling issues, which is really nota fault of anyone, but it's just you know. What's going to happen when you'retrying to coordinate you know three to eight people or cuse me sixty eight people, but my biggest grip was like there'sdiscrepancy amongst like tos and stores about prizing yeah, which I thought waswas really interesting, and I, on the one hand I like kind of understand iton the first team challenge or the second team, whatever one Iqualified for one of the earlier team challenges and Pokemon sent out a boxto all the stores, I think with the intent being hey divy this box upamongst your players and participants, and then they just ended up likeselling the box, and it's like I understand, like I get it if you're alocal game store in a pandemic, like I empathize but also you know is that isthat good practice, like you kind of knew that they were sending you thisback yeah I mean to be distributed in. I really the lesson of the teamchallenge. Is there needed to be better logistics around it right all, O and e?You know that kind of covers the prizes that covers the scheduling just like itwasn't. Logistically super well done, but the idea was there yeah and it wasa great idea. I mean it's fun yeah to I like, because I felt like the teamchallenge actually really like was a good line. Beteen hardcompetition and just like fun yeah. You...

...know, because you had at least on all the teams thatI was on or most of the teams. I was on like a general mix of like okay, here'ssome try, hards or like players with the results and then here's some peoplethat just like signed up one night and one you know and like they'd, beenplaying for a year or something you know what I mean and there's likethere's that kind of mix, and so I thought it kind of made that made thatkind of exciting kind of interesting in the sense that okay, we're reallytrying to win. But I can't feel too bad about losing, because you know you know people are going to play weirddecks or you know the caliber of players, not like top tier right, because you can't choose your your partners but yeah. I thought itwas a good mix of like competition and I just like a chill atmosphere.Absolutely so I want them yeah. So a long long story short like I want themto continue this kind of thing. Like we're all these things, I feel likewe're good innovations that only happened because of the pandemic, butit's like a quality of life improvement that I want them to continue it wellinto the future. I don't know if they will. It doesn't really seem as thoughthere's going to be another player's Cup or another team challenge, but likeI really hope that they will, because they were a lot of fun. I totally agree- and I guess capping off our kind oflike Players Cup online scene highlights from the year I mean we gotto mention Alex Samansky Man. He took home the chilling rain Players Cup andthen just shortly afterwards, he took home like the Players Cup InvitationalChampionship using the same tech, unbelievable, and he had some amazinggames that in there too, I mean I just think of the one game you had in gamethrough versus a soul where this will really seem to be like in a commandingphysician and Alex just finds this perfect route to take six prizes. Inone turn I mean this guy has figured it out and I Alex has been a guy. WHO'shad good results throughout his career he's been top sixteen player since hecame to masters, but I feel, like he's, been waiting to have this like reallybig break through Momentarie like this. Is You know this me on top here andYeah Yeah Ferhad? That valid any moment, I feel, like he's, yeah yeah exactly Imean you know if you've been playing the game for any number of years. You'll recognize, Alex's, name and and and you'll always kind of I don't know,at least for me- is always like, of course, Alex fantastic player littlebit of an Astris, because it always would seem like okay he'd get to topaid of a regional or get to top a devotion. You know of a internationalor something like like you'd, always be there in the conversation, but couldnever quite close the deal like a lot of it to no fault of his own, butthat's just how how the cards happen right, that's how the chips fell and soto have him win this event, you know kind of nothingelse happening right, like all eyes on the Players Cup and and that invitational as well and towin both was just really really like. You said validating for him, so I'mvery happy that that he was able to do that, come away with a win absolutely, and I think we have one more majorhighlight that we want to cover. We had a great year on the cast as well. Wedid we had a lot of listeners Ip this year. You all have shown so much loveand support, and we had a lot of great friendly faces that joined us on thepodcast Java. You want to dive into some of those yeah so early in the yearwe had chip. Richie was a great interview. I thought yeah and and lookfor these people to you know again the the content creation sphere is likerelatively small. So, like I would say, look for you know. I am full of thesepeople to potentially a handful look for a couple of these people to be backagain next season, but chip was very early on. It was really cool to get tohear his back story. I remember him talking about what he did like as a jobright and he was just like yeah man. I just sell on Ebay and stuff, and I waslike: Oh that's insane, what a guy. Finally, I know the the Ebay resellerand then, and then we also had Celia's network so luke was joining. The castis just kind of that stretch where Riley you were. You were in your ownworld man I was so really we luke was luke was another one. That was greatbecause he talked a lot about the you know. We talked a lot about acontent creation and he's obviously pushing really hard for that as beingkind of a viable means of off income...

...and just how hard that is right withall the challenges that I think are seemingly apparent to playing thePOKEMON trading card game. But you know per absolute and reallygreat interview there that we had atrocious jake on the cast anotherplayer that it kind of falls into that category of like Oh started with t CG,you know started with with doing paco and openings and stuff like that andthen a sense kind of moved into V, GC, which is we've seen that a number oftimes players like purple, cliff Sierra Dawn, and then I m, I mean I'm sure, there'sat least one or two others that I'm missing as the TI on to mind for me,yeah yeah, exactly or maybe like, Like PinkVapor. What be another one right to an extent, I suppose, but another one ofthose creators, and so that was cool to get his perspective on the twocommunities. And then we had frosted Cariboo, so shelby joined us on willjoin me on the cast most recently. And that was again another greatconversation I feel like. I got to know her a little bit better asa creator and person, and that waspleasantly surprised by the insight that I gleanedfrom our conversation. So all those really great interviews are up on the you know on the podcasting platforms ofyour choice, so I would definitely recommend you go check them out at arat review once you're done yeah exactly I don't know Riley did you have achance to listen back to any of those. I haven't listened to the Caribou oneyeah. I listen to the others. Okay Yeah. I was just curious any any thoughts onon the guests that we had on the cast this year. I mean I really enjoyed allof them and I think that's one of the things that we talked about thisearlier is we have just such a with regard to the Omni Poke League. We havejust such a welcoming positive sphere in pokemon. I think it's easy to losesight of that, but just like really great people honestlythat exist around us in the pokemon scene, yeah yeah, I would say for themost part right like we still have for sure issues of or there's bad apples, there's there's, never there's never going to be a time to stop. You knowtrying to move forward in terms of you know, progressive thoughts on on youknow various members in the community, but you're absolutely right right. I thinkwe done it o surrounding ourselves, with with positive people who upliftthe community as a whole. Yeah would agree what agree so great. I want tomake one because I know we're going to move into card o the day. Now I want tomake one other special shot out yeah during Players Cup one. It was anabsolute joy to work on a rogue deck that didn't actually come to the fullrealization I mean it did. It was played right, but I was working withAlex Piney on his decidi obstacle and deck, and you know he came to me withthis idea and he's like hey. I need some help like with the list and tryingto figure out how to make this work, and it was a genius idea. I certainlyspawned what we would see later on in future formats. The DECIDUA deck offuture formats unfortunately had some bad luck runningin into like, I think, just a random fire deck and then the I think facingoff against Natalie, if I remember correctly, but certainly one of thosemetal decks that you know with the Gx and then they had the thethe Luke metal gx right, getting rid of the energy and reducing the damage andthen the the Zation and then the I think they also had the stun fisk as well a real that's for areal killer. So, oh no! No! I take it back. They had the bronze song. Theyhad the baron song. So still like doing seventy damage, two shouting, all theDividui m. It take he really hard and then yeah right and then you had themetal goggles right, so you're like taking no damage. So that was a reallytough match up, but it was cool to work on that deck with Alex, and I rememberthat fondly from this season as well honestly, just a just a great yeargreat year and review, I'm excited for what the next year brings with us, and with that I want to bring us intothe cart of the day GW. I got a Pokadeti for you for thiscart of the day. Are you ready? I am ready. Can I Google it not? I mean I guess, like you was. I can'tphysically stop you, but it unless ready. It would be a bad faith. If youdid that's fair, okay, I will not so it goes as follows.

Its swiftness is unparalleled. It canscale a tower of more than two thousand feet in a minute's time. I mean I tellyou what you can get one hint it can either be the set or the type okay I'll take the type for sure water. WHAT THE HECK! Okay! How about this is going to be aweird one, I'm going to say I'm going to say peloter, the fellow for I that was a weird one, so the card that I chose- and I wasinspired because of our conversation last week- it out drizzily. So I choseanother stage, one of two water type that was relevant yeah and that isfroger and so froger from break point was another stage, one that had a lotof play and what froger did is it had for onewater, energy it had the infamous water duplicates attack where you could getup to three more froger, all of them from your deck and put them into play.Let's go without Havin, U evolve proke andthat's really. What enabled the whole grenideer be a thing Crinier AK, so you know not quite as useful generallyas resile, but it filled the niche of, like you know, of a stage one thatactually contributes to the game. So I really am a fan of the good in July nGreiner break was a deck that I really wanted to work on a couple of occasionsand never did so ruggeder. Thank you for your servicepart of the day, yeah well, and you can still kind of play fro Gadir in thisformat. You can play frigate this format I willkind of if you're looking for the same, you know a lot of duplicates. Oh yes, curlie yeah, yeah curly. I progidies there first O years there. First, that's right, never forget the og, never forget the og, so the originalgrinage! That's awesome, that's awesome! Well, Ithink we wanted to move on now to some of the highs and lows from each of theformats. So these are more card based what contenders and pretenders what didwe? We call them mvs LP. So though I like the contender for pretenders lyeah, I don't know mvly matches a little bit more because there arecertainly some on this list. That is that we're definitely not pretenders, but we don't think very highly of them. So let's go with the VP l VP. Mostvaluable players in their respective formats and least valuable players intheir respective format, so we've had four set releases this year: Darknessablaze, Vivid Voltage Battle Styles and our latest chilling rain, yea and sowe'll start with team up to darkness, Blas Riley. What are the MV and the l VP or this format? SoI mean when you're thinking of an m vp for the darkness, laze format. I thinkthere's only one truly obvious answer. You know: We've talked about it, a loton the podcast about how much we like it, how good it is, and that is, ofcourse, mad party blots, a mad party, but it'sprobably my favorite deck to come out in the past year, just so ridiculous, so fun and I cannever get enough of it. Honestly, it's yeah! It's just like it was like smoothsailing right. Like you load, peg, O up, you got like Narya care in the world. That's you just roll in your mad party that exactly describes me yeah, Nary, sure for sure and, like you know what like and name a better deck to likeFriday night. You know you just got done playing league, you know, and youneed to kind of like wind down, maybe with an adult beverage. He like, okay,I'm going to log into peach, go for. You know an hour until I fall asleepand like you're rolling mad party every time in that Sitch, Oh yeah, absolutelydeck is insanely fun. It was you know, one of the one of the few likeconsistently viable one prize decks for...

...a multiple of the foremast that we'vehad yep. So it's been awesome. It's. It was really good, a good addition to thegame. I think yeah for sure. Now what wasn't a good addition to the game or lVP, a Turneis v Max what a freaking card man, what afreaking card and for so many of the sets it was so so good so good. I meanI played that deck, a lot in I'm in a poke league and in Players Cup and just on the ladder like I like thatdeck generally, but it was so linear and so just simple, simplified right yeah. That is especially at this point in time. Right for sure, and so like wewere all kind of looking for you know another set to like bring somediversity to the game, and we all wanted a new set to kind of overthrow the tag teams which I guessin a way Turneis did, but just not in the way that we all kind ofwanted it to yeah. Absolutely with, like you know, with like skill ceiling and like yeah, it was just such a frustrating back toplay against because I, like you, either either had a jack that was goodagainst a turneis or yeah deck that wasn't good against the tar. It is yes, that's definitely true. Yeah just daughter lost that game, unless theyted drew up right and that's. The thing too is like yeah. You were just at themercy of. There is no real way to build Eternius to like make it that much moreconsistent right, like you're playing your for pro bad you're playing yourfour researcher for Marny, like that was pretty much it yeah, and so thatmade it frustrating as well, because it was like well, I don't think I canreally outplay my opponent necessarily rightso yeah like there's no ear, there's noway. I can like deck, build my way into playing my opponent. I guess that'swhat I exactly exactly. Let's go to faforite voltage, though, let's do so after a long three months with darkness a blaze. I guess it was ashorter period of time at darness. Vivid voltage was fresh, ready aliveenough to format J W. What was the most valuable player in vivid voltage overme? I love the concept of amazing rears, bathe, content of amazing s. They were so epic. They were so fun such goodcontent, such good content- and you know they only happened like aquarter of the time realistically, but they were super coolwhen they did happen, and they just were great art like I'm. Acollector of amazing rars like if you got amazing, rars lying around thehouse like Salem to me, burial, I loved the art work. I thought they werebeautiful cards, they just kind of didn't. You know, didn't perform allthat well, but they made for some fun games for sure, yeah, amazing rars.Honestly, I loved the idea of that. I Love the art, obviously was phenomenalthere beautiful beautiful cards, but I also kind of like the idea ofjust having these like intentionally absurd cards. You know where they havethese like crazy effects, but it's like yeah you're not really ever going touse this but like if you want to try like right, high risk, high reward, sure and- and that's the thing too, I think is missing a little bit in thegame design at times and why this was so refreshing in the vivid voltage.Format is like they had cards that were that were likeon the cusp of usable right, because if any of these had you know, maybe oneless energy cost right or two of the energy were like the same type. Right, like I think about Kayaker kager would probably have been an insane card if itwas like to water and a lightning to power it up right because now you'renot dealing with three different types, but it so s on the cusp of beingplayable and a lot of the Times. If you could get it going. You know, like I'mthinking about cooker. The recuas was pretty good. It was on Asante Zassi. Ifyou can get those things going like they were going to do some prettypretty big damage, yeah well, in a way I kind of like thatthey're. So ridiculous, though, like I feel like so many pokemon cards likehave such obvious like niches or you know, builded play kind of strategiesand you kind of like mix and match those different like subsets of cardstogether, whereas, like amazing Mars,...

...is like yeah. You got to just figurethis one out on your own, like yeah. There's not like a way to makethis work, so you got to figure that out yeah. They didn't really like comewith a built in. You know package yeah, and so I don't know I wish that Ialmost wish that was something that they just like continued, like imagine, just like one amazing rar per set, and it's just like I don't know it's becool yeah for sure, okay. So then what would be your l vp for the vividvoltage, a format? I think now, I think about it more. I think there's two. The first one goes that saying that theformat for VIVENOT DIM VOTA didn't bring it off to the game, a rough, nothing bro, so we just played like six months of darkness, a place for that, basically, which was so miserable by the end ofthat was the dark days for me like that felt so hard. It was a blaze at this.Yes, you know right before battle styles, that was tough man. That wasreally a really tough. I think the other l VP though- and this is the onewe had written down- is the the distributors were an LV at this timeperiod and like the printing, I guess, like vivid voltage, got fritted likeonce a yeah, and you know they gave out likethree booster baxes of vivid voltage, and that was the entirety of the set.So if you didn't get one of those to booster boxes, you had to to buy one ofthe cards yep that was so impossible to find why I know it was so crazy. I mean you knowwe can blame it on Ovid, but yeah yeah. It's great, though that was a. Itwas just a difficult era of the game. I think, oh for sure, it's a low pointfor a lot of people. I feel like because- and actually the funny thing, though, is like vivid voltage, probably becomes like a significantly better setin about two weeks, yeah right like when we get the flafflike all of a sudden, because I think that was I mean that was at the head, the Chunkety and then I think we also got like oneother major lightning v Max, I'm forgetting like tax tristy or so. Ishould know this off the top of my head think. Maybe there was one oh o was itCoco, Coco Bema? No, that was I'm pretty sure. There was one otherlightning right, I'm pretty sure there was one other lightning be maybe I'mmisremembering, but in any case like people were trying to make Pecachuawork and again there's another one like on the costo being pretty decent right, doing some pretty big damage, but falling a little bit short in theend. So Hey who knows yeah, maybe maybe a little a little laffy action can getget some of those femie going from vivid voltage, little flection right. Let's go right into battle. Styles, then so battlesteeds I mean MV is battle.Styles, literally, the crew of battle styles, was the MB. What an awesome addition to the game we've been so high onbattlestars. Ever since they kind of like announced it, we thought it wasgoing to be good and it really has been. You know. I sometimes I think whenthese kind of mechanics are printed, they almost become like to, like, I don't know, cookie cutter orlike building build and play, but I feel like the rapid strike and thesingle strike. Mechanics have both had like their kind of define niche they've,both like found their ways as just individual cars and to other decks andthey're just a lot of fun to play as an archetype as well. So- and I think oneof the best parts about this mechanic is they're not giving up on it they'recontinuing to iterate on it. We got the fusion style coming now, so I mean justprops to folk mon. We've talked a lot about how good we think this is, and it's been super fun to take part in thestyles yeah. I think, like one of the things that makes it a good mechanicfrom my perspective, is a gifts players, a framework for creating a deck withoutdictating that they have to create the deck that way right, like in Tellinrabid strike. An talion like is just a generally good card, but if you parentwith some of the other rapid strike tools right like it, it does maybepotentially like a little better or it can fit. You know very well into theErshad deck that also happens to be a rapid strike pokemon and like Oh hey, they can also use this same energy, but it's not exclusive right. We've seenother mechanics like this. I think about something like the SP pokemonright. They had their whole thing, but it was really confined right. Youcouldn't really use the the mechanics of the SP era, the...

...the you turn the Moke Chin or the pokat me t e the tool,I'm blanking on everything now yeah the energy game. You know the Sprat. Arethese kinds of things like you? Couldn't use them for other pokemon andjust really kind of limited the deck building like you were making an spdeck if you included those cards, whereas now you have okay, you canchoose and like Oh hey, there might be some reasons to maybe include both asingle strike in a rapid strike or a fusion and a rapid strike like there'skind of that framework, that's given to you, but that's not dictating how youbuild your decks yeah, absolutely a speaking of single and rapid strike, though J w.what's the LP row a card that should never be this expensive Driz, I don't think Jezil is or battle styleson you don't think it was our battlesoules one or LP. No, we had vis later man. Okay well drew silas an LV for thechilling rain format. Poles are LV for battle sons. I had down Hound Doom Okay, oh mygoodness hound him of Cor, because that was a flub of, of course, remember howexcited we were for hounding so excited man, so like like really excited, really really excited. I the step by my take, but I think Houndis problem isthe single strike voke, not how do true true yeah, it didn't really get toomuch support it. It. I blame the other single strikers, how due is trying hishardest, but the team is just not there for him.I mean, let's lay out the squad right. He got Erchie the single strikers, fo the bandy gotMax Tyran, Itar, Huh and tornadoes Tornados, that's about it. That was literally ityeah. That's I mean you got like Prima. You got no there's a there's, a non vmsingle strikers, that's what I say: Yeah He oh yeah and then there's thesurviver, oh a the. So I mean this is like I feel like thisis if we were to make it a sports analogy. I feel like this would be likeLebron playing on the Lakers like three years ago, when it was just like basically Han thecounty bus te bran, I don't know could be, could be. I think, Cativa the way to the broadbut he's definitely held back by his home. Is that's right. True, very true.So you know, battle styles was a really fun edition the game, though, as a sad lots of enjoyable pieces there and soto w, take us home with chilling right, okay! Well, this is our. This is our lmm VP for chilling rain card that you ever ave not be this expensive, but Ishould not be this expensive, but it's like a real zero to hero story in thedrizzily. Right like this is an uncommon card. Tell diamond in thebottom right should be worth somewhere between ten and twenty five cents is now worth somewhere between threeand five dollars, absolutely ridiculous, but will be acard that we'll have a significant impact movingforward and, of course, we bring it up in chilling rain because it was a sortand shield card, but obviously with the addition of theItalian and the sniping like very, very strongand just a really nice kind of alternative to just having crow baddrawn the post, rotation format and even pre rotation like just a nicealternative. Having you know, Croma or did Teni draw, I think, even lookingmore ahead. Like post rotation Drusie, I think, will have just a greaterimpact because crowbait have a lesser impact, there's less cards that canthin the deck. You know thin the hand like it, justthe crow bats, we're going to find are going to be very clunky and veryawkward, and so I think Drusie like moving forward. Like again, we've saidthis on the cast many times, but just if you don't already have them and youcan find them for ye relatively cheap, like you got to do it, because I don'tthink that that's a that card's really going anywhere. It definitely is not so shades out man. You came up strongin the end. That's right and the l VP is also a car that did notcome out in chilling rain,...

...but it's a card. I think we can allagree we would do better without and thatcard is gen garden new, a Kex this card, literally it reeks havoc whenever it isin a deck right like nobody ever wants to see a gang are teque because it itjust causes problems. So obviously the main offender there isgoing to be that horror, house gx in this format. The primary use of that isto just give you a free turn of set up with the shadow rider cally rex, andthat is just such an astronomical difference. In the game plan I mean youcan get so many energy into play for free just by saying, horror, house and youropponent literally cannot do anything about it. That's what Horror House says:Yeah Yeah, exactly it's wild. I I'm just like I kind of think about it. Youknow, and especially when they kind of gave it the enablers of the shadow ater cally raxes, likethat's a huge enabler right, because you're just looking to get a bunch ofenergy into play all the time. It's just like it's amazing that theyever printed that, like it just says not like you, can't attack right likebecause I feel like the cobain there's some of that. Okay, you know you'regetting an extant set up, but like you're, also kind of letting youropponent play the game, but like Gan Gar is just like yeah you, you wantedto play the game well, think again, but yeah literally, unless you have aPokemon on the board that you can get to the active that can attack for asignificant amount of damage, then it literally doesn't matter yourturn, yeah worthless. It's so funny. It's so funny, absolutely incredible, and then I think the attack is like pretty busted to right, because likefifty times and then you know- let's say your opponent like draws prizeslike they can't even choose to you- know play around that. You know it'slike more as a second energy like this is something that you know shaints likewe get the second it on there right course hour to draw the cars. Youcannot play them and then they knock you out. They bother you yeah. It'sit's tough for sure. So a worst case scenario. They at least are looking atyour hand. There's take right. Oh my gosh, my cat, sorry about that. My cat literallydashed across my I've, never seen her do that. She dates my coer funny andhappened to hit the power button, which is like it not even easy to press. Sothat's I got a really funny screen shut. That's file, man, that's wild!Thankfully the recording was continuous, but the stream probably died for asecond yeah, then you'll, a you'll edit that impost yeah hot of that put. Thatwas insane, but that's funny, but yeah I mean Ijust got gangarid literally right there. So true, so there you go, I think over all you know. This is allin light: hearted, fine! This was a good year for the POKEMON trading cardgame. I think it was a lot of fun and I'm really excited for. What's on thehorizon, yeah, I feel like one of the one of thethings that I like about. You Riley- and I feel like I have just attitudetoo- is like we're always pretty hopeful when it comes to the future ofthe game. I think we've seen a lot of good things from the company terms ofplayers. COPS gram would love to see more organized tournaments, like that from the top down I've seen a lot ofgood things from the community. Let's not forget the enabler of all thesegood things in the community limit list. I think that would be. It would be a much different online play community if we had to usebattle fly or if we had to use some other tournament, organizing software, so shout outs the limit list for theirvp of the year incredible site and yeah. I think we have hope you knowthey didn't say anything in the POKEMON direct, but I've been talking withAndrew, like I'm feeling I'm I swear, I'm feeling a new client like it's inthe air, it's in the air. I seriously am feeling I'm feeling some big changeto the game like to the online game jade. As we know in the gift ofprophecy.
